I recommend Old Hickory. Both cookers do a good job but the difference between two is when something goes wrong. Old Hickory parts can be had a auto parts and hardware stores. Southern Pride you will need to obtain parts from Southern Pride, this can lead to lenghty down time.

Jim is exactly right. Southern Pride is a good cooker, but our old buddy
Raine put the Old Hickory in her restaurant for the very reason Jim noted.

Hey Raine. How you been? Now I thought SP made Ole Hickorys. Is this hot or cold?

How about a Fast Eddy? No worry about how to keep your wood safe and you can add meat at anytime! Also, your recovery time is much better because the FE's burner will kick up when you open the door.

Just another option... :D
