Best Movie of All Time

Only ONE per person. This will give everyone insight into your deepest psyche...........mine is "To Kill a Mockingbird." It works on several different levels. The kids story, the trial of Tom Robinson. People' fears of what they don't understand. Boo is the Mockingbird, Tom Robinson is too! For ten points, without looking it up, what revered actor got his first major role as Boo Radley?

ps. Harper Lee also won a Pulitzer for the novel.

Robert Duvall....great movie.

I'll say Casablanca. People today don't understand the historical setting of that movie.

I'm not the religious type, only religion I get now adays is listening to Jesus Christ Superstar. With that said, I would have to go with Passion of the Christ. There were scenes that I had tears in my eyes.

"Happy Gilmore", that is the only movie I can watch over and over and over again!

Finney 02-17-2005 08:16 AM

If it has to be just one:

To Kill a Mockingbird
I love this movie. I watch it at least once every two months. It reminds me a lot of growing up. (very small southern town) The narrator's accent sounds just like one of my aunts used to sound. (reminds me of her) Just a good movie.

breaking Woodmans rules I have to add:

Harvey
Being There
The Quite Man
The Day the Earth Stood Still

Hey Chris, the music in TKAM makes me almost cry! The part where she realizes who is standing behind the door and says"Hey Boo" then Aticus says,"Miss Jean Louise Finch, Mr Arthur Radley," always gets to me!

Finney 02-17-2005 08:29 AM

Damn WoodSoulbrother... same here... But I wasn't going to say that here.

Tell you another great soundtrack "Dances With Wolves." My second favorite movie!

Captain Morgan 02-17-2005 08:47 AM

I play a song from Dances with Wolves in my show....it's the John Dunbar Theme, but it's not on the soundtrack! I get calls about it all the time.

Hey brother, They filmed a good portion of The Deer Hunter in Cleveland. I know right where that church that they shot the weddiiing scene is! It is two blocks from Ralphie's "Christmas Story" House!

Dirty Dozen is on TCM tonight, no commercial interruption. I love it, but my favorite movie of that genre is Kelly's Heroes with Clint Eastwood, Donald Sutherland, Telly Savalas, Don Rickles and many more. I've got it on dvd.

Love to share this little clip from the movie. A German tank comes around a corner in this small town, and Rickles and another GI run for cover. They jump into what turns out to be an outhouse, and the tank blows it up. Tank leaves, and another GI runs over to help them out of the rubble. Just as they stand up, the GI says..."Geeze, you guys smell like you fell into a dung heap!"

And Rickles says...."Kinda reminds you of home, doesn't it!"

I cry everytime I see that scene. Great movie.

Too bad he wasn't killed during filming! He coulda died at the top instead of becoming a sad charicature!!

Captain Morgan 02-17-2005 05:16 PM
