Well Susan, you never forgot how to use the WSM the "Old Fashion" way. You could do like you said and start out without the guru and use it when you get home, or you could cook completely without it, or you could use it from the beginning and not worry about the lights going out. When the lights go out, how long do they stay out? The guru will start up again when the power comes back on. But your neighboe will be pissed because the good neighbor feature won't be activated.
