Pork Butt

I did a butt on friday, about an hour in i was snooping and found all my thermometers(an oven thermometer, an instant read I had, and the one bolted to the door of the smoker) where reading different. So I went to the restaurant supply store and bought a quality oven thermo. Anyway everything came out fine, but I'm open to suggestions about how to keep my thermometer clean from the smoke.
Bytheway: The thermometer that was most accurate was the cheap one the smoker came with bolted to the door.
 
Make sure you check the therms you can in boiling water prior to every cook...212* is the temp you are looking for. Then use that one for temp measurement.
