Didn't really plan on cooking much yesterday.... forecast (I thought  ) was for some rain. Never did rain. :D

Next thing ya know, a few people stop with some pops wit foam on top and some groceries, then another few with a little more... so in goes some shag bark hickory and red oak in the firebox... down go a few libations and toss some horse-shoes while waiting for some coals....threw on some burgers and some ribs & yard bird pieces.

I loves me some company, and they all seem to love to come here and eat my cookin', so next thing I know here's a few more people with more groceries. The cooker kinda went in shifts. Between the good company and the pops ....I forgot to take the camera outside and didn't get any pics untill the last go round of food cooking. (I gotta apologize for all the missing food porn). All day things were in different stages of being put on to cook. Was kinda interesting to have cooked that way, seemed like people ate a LOT more then just sitting down to it all at one time. Seemed like just about when something was about cooked, there was something else to throw on!

Sorry for rambling....Happy Memorial Day to ALL. Being a Cub Scout Leader, our son and I get to march in tomorrow mornings parade...Yay!

Them burnt looking burgers my mom-in-law made.... they are kinda like a meat loaf burger with pepers and onions... but she put some kinda sauce or something in them that kinda blackens when cooked... I think it's some cheap BBQ sauce high in sugar??? who knows...maybe she even adds sugar!

how many people you feedin??

That day we ended up with about 25 or 26 people here... If it's the weekend and it's not raining...people usually just come here and bring cookable food......and I LOVE to cook it...makes me happy to watch people enjoy my cookin'/smokin'.

In all Saturday I think 4 full pork racks went on, 4 half pork racks, 4 rows of beef short ribs, about 20 Boars Head natural casing dogs, a 3 pound pack of SPICY kielbasa, at least 30 of mom-in-laws meatloaf burgers, and 6 big chuck steaks that went across the grates. With some sides of cole slaw, potato salad and baked beans with little weenies in them.

I kept the chucks way off in the corner where the heat is lowest and slowwwww cooked them covered heavy in a paste I made from Horseradish, EVOO, and chopped fresh garlic. (total experiment that I WILL definately do again). When they were done I pulled them into small piece sizes and mixed them in a big garden salad we had. AWESOME! Best use of cheap chuck steaks I ever did 4 sure!

Usually there is some left overs to munch on the next few days...but there was nothing left behind this time....I think they brought their appetites! ;)

Thank you all for the kind words!

SJ, those are the best, when some one stops by then somebody else then another. We did that a few years ago on our front lawn, we sat out and had a beer. Then a couple of neighbors stopped by with a few beers, then a few more..................................before you knew it, we were 18 strong. Now we doing it once a month in the summer, today being the first day. Everybody brings food, beer, wine and what not! Glad your day turned out good!
