Smoking 2 7lbs butts today

Smoking 2 7lbs butts today. My entire family is comming over tomorrow this is only my second smoke.

I am using a combo of apple and hickory for my wood.

I brined them last night about 16 hours in apple cider.
injected one with cider and brown sugar the other I used coke brown sugar and Capt. Morgan Tattoo spiced rum.

The cider one I used a brown sugar base rub with the ingredients listed below.

1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup white table sugar
1/4 cup sweet Hungarian paprika
1/4 cup granulated garlic
1 Tablespoon black pepper
1 Tablespoon Lawry's Seasoned Salt
1 Tablespoon ground cumin
1 Teaspoon cayenne pepper

The Rum and Coke one I used Charley Vergos Rendezvous rub which I got the last time I was in Memphis.

I had some issues as some of you read, however it worked out great about a 10.5 hour cook. They both tasted really good. I think I really liked the Rum and Coke one the best.

So far it is my favorite.
1 1/2 cans of coke two heaping table spoons of brown sugar and about 4 shots of Capt. Morgan Tattoo Rum.
