Smoked Chicken Legs!
The local grocery store had drumsticks on sale recently and DW & I just couldn't resist. I prefer boneless/skinless thighs or breasts because they're so easy to utilize in a wide variety of meals - salads, sandwiches, etc. But who can resist a smoked chicken leg once in a while. We had some onion and peppers over rice as a side item. Mmmmm.... Gooood!
I use a gas grill (I know, blasphemy for some) with hickory chips. DW and I like hickory for its pungent aroma. That old Kenmore gas grill has lasted well over 30 years. I've replaced the burner and grill grates several times and it's due for another overhaul but that $199 back in the day has served us well. My indirect heat system works well to generate lots of smoke and the end result is a sight to behold. Today I used Bad Byron's Butt Rub. I use the same ingredients in my home-made rub but I took the easy way out and used the pre-made stuff today.
