Hey everyone,

I noticed some rust in the bottom of my offset smoker. It is made out of a LP tank, so I am not worried about it rusting through, but I do want to keep it in the best shape I can. I am having new shelves made for the inside, so was gonna go ahead and clean it out and reseason. Open for suggestions! I thought maybe steel brush and brush it down, sweep it all out, then set a fire and spray it with what? Pam, rub with vegetable oil, lard, what do you suggest?

thanks,

chuck

Dave Klose told me to cook a pound of bacon and save the liquid fat...then paint it on the bottom of the cooker to re-season it...worked like a champ!

I used Pam on the shelves and the firebox. :D
