Pork rib rubs - sugar or not?

The friendliest place on the web for anyone that enjoys cooking.

I actually have a sugarless rub. It sounds like you have the base for a dicent rub except I would add the Hickory smoke via natural resources.

IMHO, I don't think the sugar makes the finished ribs taste "sweet"...I always use it in my rubs...or the rubs I buy from others! ;)

Well if you're grillin not smoking, you will only be using some chunks or chips you could use Oak instead of Hickory or I did a Google Search and there are suppliers of bbq smoke wood listed in the search for the UK.

RR - if you could post a sugarless recipe for me i'd appreciate it.

Yes, i'd love to do the smoke the natural way - but hickory is native to North America, and i'm in Europe :) Also - I don't (yet) have a smoker - so i'm just testing the waters here.
Go to my web site and email me from there I'll send you one I think you'll like. The web site is in the signature
