Here's some before and after photos of my turkey I smoked this afternoon:

The turkey was 11.72 lbs. It cooked in just over 3 hours at an approx. smoker temperature of 275-280 (temps were monitored in the breast and thigh to make sure they were in the acceptable range). For wood, I used a mix of apple and hickory chips. The rub was a recipe I found in one of my cookbooks (Weber's Way To Grill - Classic Barbeque Seasoning, minus the celery seed). All in all, not too shabby for my first bird IMHO!

How did it taste? That's the real question.

To be honest, not too bad! Being used to oven prepared turkeys, having a smoked turkey DID taste slightly different. However, it WAS very moist and juicy - my wife would like me to do another sometime!

I find it hard to believe that was your first time barbecuing a turkey! Looks exactly perfect.
