Most of you know that other board is doing the smoke day thing again the end of May. This year we moved our annual fishing trip to the Yukon Territory a week earlier. So for smoke day I'll be on Claire Lake, about 60 air miles north of Whitehorse. We get dropped off with a float plane so taking the WSM is totally out of the question. I figure my only option is to use the local alder and use some sort of aluminium foil rig to smoke some lake trout. Anybody ever smoked lake trout?

Lakers are great for smoking as they are a fatty fish. A friend of mine smokes them all the time. The lake trout, like native brook trout, is actually a Char instead of a Salmonoid like other trout and salmon.
