Has anyone ever tried to flavor charcoals with wood before ? Did it work? I thought of that the other day........now im curiouse!

Not sure what you mean DB?
Most charcoal (briquettes) has wood in it.
Lump is charred wood.
:?

He probably means like the briquettes with mesquite chunks in them..

No, Im talkin about ....ummmmm actually smoking the briquettes in the chiminy for flavor and then lighting them. Would the smoke flavor stick into the briquetts and then transfer to the meat after they're lit? hope that makes sense..... thanks!

The briquettes would probably absorb some of the flavor, but..........I find it unlikely it would transfer over to the meat.

Sounds like a lot of work when there are already more viable alternatives
(chunks, chips, etc.) readily available that will more than do the job.
