That's gonna be some good Que! Was that pic taken before you fired up the smoker? I noticed there was frost on the firebox. Keep us posted with lots of pic's!

finished picts

Here are a couple of when I was done. Sorry did not get many picts. Gets a little busy when cooking by yourself. It was a cook for a class of 35 firefighters. 45 showed up. Was doing it with no bread so one guy drove to store which is 15 miles away to get bread. I figured that would stretch the pork out some. Had enough meat. Got a little left for Monday night meeting.

Sorry it took so long. Been out on a couple of calls and took a big nap to play catch up on some much needed sleep.

Don't laugh but I have a queation. What is that control gismo in the picture with the 4 butts? I would guess it is one of those temperture and fan controls. Never seen one before.

Looks great Wood3222!

TK, It's a Guru. I'll let Wood tell you more about it.

Larry, Photobucket does that. you almost have to upload you pics in reverse to get them to post right without editing. But I haven't had any problems with them like I have with Webshots, and Imageshack.

Yep, It is a bbq guru. You put a probe in the smoker to control pit temperatures that you set to your desired temp. And one in the meat. Has a blower to blow air into your fire box. When pit is at temp it just puffs maybe once a second. If pit starts to drop in temp blower runs all the time. Has alarm on to alert you if it gets to cold. Also a alarm when your meat is done. I use mostly just to keep pit temp. I use the minion method to burn my charcoal so I can get a 3 to 5 hour burn with out adding more charcoal. If I did not have this I would not be BBQ’ing. Just would not have the time. To many other things going on and have time to bbq. Here is a link http://www.thebbqguru.com/ . I also use a wireless remote thermometer so I know what the temperature of the pit is from inside house.

I got the smoker free from a friend who was going to throw it out. Put a few a parts on it and away I go. The wife says, a free pit with 300 dollars of accessories put on it. It is something I had wanted for years. When I upgrade to a bigger smoker I will take the accessories of and add it to my new smoker.

The guru is the best money spent for me. I know some people say it is not a true form of bbq. It is not how bbq was done when it started. It’s cheating and all that. They are right. But the end product is bbq. I am not going out to a field butcher a pig dig a hole with burnt down coals from logs I cut down the year before. Toss dirt over it all that. Pull the hog up and serve it. I go to a store search for a piece I like and BBQ it. I use the guru and make bbq. When it is done and people come up to me and say. That is the best bbq I have ever had. Or I have never had bbq before that stuff is great and then you see them later in the year and they tell you about the bbq places they are starting to go to. There search for good Q. Some even say they have been around and still like mine. Well hell, I just tip my hat back and smile and take that complement all in. I think that is what it is all about. You have opened there eyes to a whole new world. That is what bbq’ing is all about meeting people sharing ideas. Sharing food and good times.

Thanks for the info. I have read up on them but have not seen one. I have the bbq bug and in search for all the info I can get. That's why I like this forum getting info from people whose been there and done it. Again thanks.
