I had it put together by Saturday night, of course, but it wasn't going to cook much in the living room. So I took it outside today and loaded it up.

By the time I got done calibrating temps and such, it was too late to start a long cook. So I decided to cook a Griff Loaf in honor of Griff's great Xmas present.

The kettle got demoted to remote thermometer transmitter holder

I didn't have any of the problems others have reported with a new WSM running hot.

More pix when the loaf is done.

Ahh,'s that's the trick to keeping the temp down. Do you first cook in the winter snow.
Anyone have any problems with leaving a Weber kettle or WSM out in the winter?
I've always stowed mine away in the garage.

I have one at camp and the red 22 1/2 that we use all year around, Dallas WSM sleeps in the garage till spring.

Looks like an excellent proposition. Would try to make a Griff Loaf but dont have access to seals, walri, bears and beavers etc.

The loaf looks great. All of my smokers, grills, etc stay outside all winter and are used all winter. I just use the Weber covers when they are not in use.
