I did 2 slabs of ribs and a fatty (1st time) yesterday (forgot my camera so I couldn't take pics #-o ). The last post about ribs I mentioned how windy it was and that they took about 8 hours. Yesterday was beautiful, no wind and the ribs only took 4 hours, nice lunch.

Anyway, I used the Worcester and Texas Rub on the ribs and liked the flavor. This was the first time I used the Texas Rub, I am partial to a local rub called Smokin Guns.

I will be doing 2 briskets and 2 butts this weekend for my sister and was wondering the following;
#1) anyone use the Worcester and Texas Brisket Blend on their brisket?
#2) anyone do a mustard slather and the Texas Brisket or reg Texas Rub on their brisket?
#3) Anyone do the Worcester and Texas Rub on Butts?

I am trying to get a feel for how people like it, again I've always used the Smokin Guns rub on all my smokes.

Thanks for the info!

I've used both the mustard and worsty sauce on butts with both Texas BBQ Rubs, Original and Brisket Blend and they're all good. My personal preferences are no sauce or worsty sauce, both with the Brisket Blend. That B Blend is some good stuff!

Thanks for the info....I've never used the Texas rub before and I did not know if the worsty sauce made a difference in the taste (if the texas blend was formulated to blend with the flavor of the worsty sauce). I've only used the Smokin Guns before and everyone loves it but was wanting to venture out and try something different.
I'll take photo's of the cook and let you know how it comes out.

Man's,

I've done most of the combinations you mentioned. When I did the brisket I did it like the Texasbbqrub site suggested. I made their home BBQ sauce also.

Here are some pictures of the kinda weird looking brisket I did using the Texasbbqrub recipe. It tasted great.

When I do butts I use mustard. Paul Kirk recommends it in his book. I also remember when I was a kid a holiday ham was cook in the oven with pineapple, my mother or aunt or whoever was baking it, would slather the ham with mustard. That is why I use mustard on the butt.

I plan on using worcestereshire sauce as well as plain yogurt one day on butts.

I need more days to BBQ!
:D :D :D :D

For the last 3-4 years i've always done mustard plus rub on my butts, briskets and ribs because of Paul Kirk (lives down the road from my business :razz: ) but like the joker said, I was convinced with the Texas BBQ Rub website and was drawn in to it :eek: and wanted to try something different. I did ribs with the worsty sauce and texas rub on sunday. I'd say I liked the ribs wet rather than dry. Anyway, I will probably do 1 brisket and 1 butt with worsty and texas brisket blend and the other brisket and butt with the mustard (I use a blend of pale ale brown mustard, beer, tabasco, brown sugar) and my smokin guns rub....I'll get pics
