Red hot in Taiwan

Hello, I am an american living in Taiwan, I want to want to start a business selling bbq pork here, specifically puled pork, because they have never seen it. Shipping smokers here is prohibitively expensive and I have built a few different ones myself, I have settled on a large ugly drum smoker with an offset fire box made from a steel paint can. It works, but at times I have had problems with creosote and I have also been struggling to get consistent results with choarcoal and wood, I can't check it and maintain the fire often. Now I am thinking of going with propane that will fire the wood in a grate above the burner. I want to find something like a propane stove top or a weed torch on a regulator that I can use with a themostat, or the guts of an old gas oven, it will burn the wood and increase or decrease as the wood is burning. I can't find anything online at all and I don't know where to search. Does anyone have any ideas?
