New Member introduction.
Hi there just joined, and hope to pass along a bit of my knowledge, and gain knowledge, from all the pros on here. been making BBQ for about 15 years, I use a treager Pellet grill. and was wondering what the general opinion of pellet smokers is here on the forum. My name is Randy, I live in Salt lake city Utah, Started making BBQ when I was living in Georgia. We don't have much in the way of competitions around my area, But I know I sure have allot of friends, that show up when I fire up the smoker.

Hey Randy welcome. Think you will find some pellet pooper advocates on here..then you find some who will make fun of ya and stuff..lol. Thems thing are apparently like buttermilk in that you either like it or hate it. Now I got a chum who peddles them and he say they make a great grill but do not get smokey enough for his own taste buds when in the bbq making mode. Know a bunch of folks hit in comp with em. Im sorta conflicted.

Re: New Member introduction.
Thanks BBQUZZ Oh I am sure there are lovers, and haters, of pellet poppers, I started on a brinkman wood burner, and it done a great job. after I finally gathered enough information, on how to regulate the vents, and finally get a steady temp. I made a bunch of mods, that were suggested to me, some helped, some I don't think helped. The very first piece of meat I did on it. Well lets just say it was unrecognizable. and even the dog run from it. so It took a while to learn to get anything editable from it. but practice and all the suggestions, I received, help and by the time I was ready to change upward I was producing Fair Q. I then bought my first treager B075 pellet poper. and your right, they don't impart the amount of smoke that most people like, However they do give a good amount for ribs, and yardbirds, but a brisket, not so much. but over the years, as things, get more and more hectic in life, you can't beat the set it and forget it. and with a few tricks that you learn or are suggested to you, you can turn out some mighty good Q. So those that make fun for being a pellet popper, I just take it in and let it roll off. All in fun, and making good Q. But all you need is a real good remote, temp probe, and you can turn out a great brisket. and fall of the bone, ribs. I would reccomend one to anyone that has others things, to do while there cooking. Try one you'll love it.

Reeper, I've only been smoking about 40 years, and I learn something everyday. Keep an open mind. It's all trial and error, and taste. And the thing is, most everyone in here can cook better food (Que) than anything they will ever buy. But we like to get better! Have fun in here, share and learn.
