n00b - Go Duke....
Hey guys n gals,
New to the forum. Eastern North Carolinian (Go Duke)! Looks great around here, love the activity. I have been told that I am obsessed with grilling. I can't get enough of it. It all started when I set out to make the perfect rack of ribs. It took me about three tries and I honed it in to a pretty good rack (Not perfect yet). But after all of my research and trials, I realized that its not about putting some charcoal brickets in and cooking something for 30 minutes. Its the preparation and methods. So anyways, I've come a long way and this forum just looks like a better way for me to get better at what I enjoy doing.. Grilling! Hope to see you guys around.
Jeff

Welcome.
Eastern NC, Huh? Then you know from first hand experience what REAL BBQ is all about! Ribs are a close second.

Yessir Bob, I'm right around the corner from Parkers BBQ and Bills BBQ. They have to be recognized each as being some of the Best BBQ spots in the world! I really enjoyed looking at your Pit and that is definitely a lovely wind chime.. Nice to meet you all.. Loving this Forum so far.. Probably spent a few hours just looking at the site.. Love looking at the pictures of pits.. Really enjoyed looking at those chaney grills. Almost pulled the trigger on one yesterday.. I'm really wanting a Kamado tho.. I started with a weber, moved on to a homemade grill, bought a char-griller smoker, almost bought a char-griller akorn, but am holding out for a true ceramic kamado.. Did cheat and bought a Old Country BBQ Pits Rio Grande Smokehouse Sidewinder(In assembly stages now). I have an addiction..

Trust me when I say this...You DON'T want the original Kamado (built by the Johnson family). At first, it was a great piece of equipment, but they have cheapened the quality and customer servise never has been good. Some people pay money and never get anything for it. There are some very good, older models out there, but they are rare.

Well not sure about all this cooking stuff..but anybody from the Carolinas got to suffer through my ancestors..lol. This nice fella is my Grandamas Uncle maybe? She was bounced on the knee of Sam Houston. That is enough to make folks bond even though they do eat funny up there.

Hey Bob, I should have said Ceramic type Kamado. I want something like a BGE, Primo, Vision, Grill Dome or the like.. I've watched countless reviews and I have read that the original Kamado is definitely not the leader in the industry anymore.

GOOD!
If I were in the market for a ceramic, I'd take a very good look at Primo's Oval smoker for it's adaptability and warantee. I'd also look at BGE for the availability and warantee, although the warantee doesn't read the same as it did a couple of years ago. I've also heard good things about Grill Dome. Stay away from those $200 specials @ Home Despot and/or Blowes.
Good luck in your quest.
BOB

No, I don't think he was talking about sparklectric. His second post was about a Cheney Grill he'd seen in a signature. He seems very open-minded about doing things the right way.
