Hello From Virginia

Hello folks. Not sure if this site will assist me in my quest but i figured i'd give it a try. I am a member of many different types of forums and i understand how they work so hopefully i came to the correct place.

Anyways, on to my question. I have a possible wedding date in June 2011. We want to cook a pig and have that as the main entree. However, having a few issues finding local places besides famous daves to do this for us. Are there any local folks around Fredericksburg Virginia that does these types of things? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

Re: Hello From Virginia

Welcome. Dont have any contacts in ole Virginny but surely they got a bunch of folks who know how to cook hawgs. Used to spar around on some old bbq forums with a fella named Terry Light from Oak Hill, VA. I plugged him into Google and all I found was some old posts about growing tomaters and buying frying pans. Might see if you could locate him if thats anywhere near your house. Sure he could hook you up with somebody to do the job if the boy is still with us of course.

Re: Hello From Virginia

I'm not real sure about Virginia's geography (it's been a long time!), but in a little town near Richmond (Midlothian, Va.), and in Hampton, there is "Q BBQ" run and operated by Tuffy Stone.

I haven't ever been to either place, but if I know Tuffy like I think I know him, it will be excellent food.

and locations

If the name sounds a little familiar, yeah he's the same Tuffy "the Professor" Stone that was on the BBQ Pitmasters show.

Good luck with your quest for a whole hog.

of course, Myron might make the drive if he isn't busy with TV and MooVies.
