Hello from Columbia, MO

It's nice to be back. A few of you may remember me from Ray's site as Big Bear. It's been a LONG time since I've been over there and I've only been Qing a couple of times a year for quite a while. I've been bitten by the bug again and was glad to find a real site again. I cooked 3 slabs of back ribs this weekend on a WSM and mentored a complete newbie to a decent batch of pulled pork. Of course, he knew better than I about the time and didn't believe me about the plateau so it wasn't great but he'll learn!

So many of the sites I used to hang out on have gone to almost total competition. I think competing is great but it's not for me. BBQ is about relaxing and having fun and I'd just get too stressed out. I also want to cook for myself and friends. I don't want to have to cook for what I think someone else, who probably knows very little about BBQ, wants to taste.

Anyway, now that I've dismounted from my horse, I'd like to say thanks to Greg for this forum and I hope to spend a lot of quality time here.

Hey Joe..do seem to recall you from over at the Widder Bassos place many moons ago. Glad you found your way over here. Lot of nice folks. Not like the shark tank into which Ray's place devolved. Not yet anyway

Nice to have you aboard Joe. I too like yourself find this forum pretty darn gone good to talk and learn about que. I do compete, but prefer to think about this as a hobby and passion. I mean, a fella's got to eat right? Glad to have you hear and looking forward to your posts!

Welcome Joe, I am a relative noob to this board being here less than a year but, there are great folks here who love to have fun, but know their Q. Being a huge Simpson's fan I'm envious of your Weber Simpson OT. I look forward to seeing your posts and pictures.
