Hello from Abilene, Texas
Hi everybody.
I was saved from another Forum that was getting to far off the subject of BBQ and more into rules and regulations rather than making good food and having fun doing it. I have a 5' long offset smoker on a trailer, a smaller wood / charcoal grill and a gas grill. I built the trailer mounted smoker and the smaller grill. I have been reading alot here today about the drum smokers and think that might be my next project.
Anyways I am glad to be here and look forward to learning from you guys.
Thanks,
Cholo

Re: Hello from Abilene, Texas
Welcome aboard Cholo. I had a good friend in the Navy who was from Abilene, Texas. First guy I met from Texas and he was a real nice guy. Come to think of it, there were a lot of guys from the South and Texas in the Navy back then. That was a long time ago but I imagine things haven't changed that much.
Anyway, we all look forward to your posts and we all love pictures. Let's see some shots of your BBQ.

Re: Hello from Abilene, Texas
Ya know at least yall have some decent Mesquite up in your part of the world. Not the grand prize winners which grow along the Coast or at least in Corpus and Robistown over there. They got the best. Might even venture to Kingsville. You should smell the crap we get around here. When you light it up the steenk is similar to a pile of smoldering dirty jock straps. Not that I have ever smelled that odor or course just using the imagination. I wonder how come that stuff varies so much? They also got much mo betta pee can than we got which comes from around Jouston.

Re: Hello from Abilene, Texas
Well can only surmise you are trying to say Euless (aka Useless..in the local eubonics). If so its about as close from Useless to Abilene as from Chicago to Noo Yawk City. It might be further by plane. If you really are going to Abilene try a place called Butterfield Junction. Hopefully it still in bizness. Lot of nice looking fat wimmen in there who like to dance. I think some of them come there right after cooking supper. Sometimes they smell like biscuits and bacon etc. Where is JTS when you need him? That boy can dance with 4 queen sized ladies all at the same time.
