Greetings From Northern Michigan
Hello to all. I picked up this site from Craig "Meathead" Goldwyn's amazingribs.com site. We live just South of the little town of Gaylord, where the winters be long, cold and snowy. My neighbors question my sanity when I fire up in mid-January, but are not at all shy about digging into the grits. I have been cooking over live fire since before Weber started making the kettle, and have probably made every mistake known to man, except using gasoline as a starter. I started getting into 'que about ten years ago, and have reached the point where I can do my own rubs and sauces, and some fair pig. But I look at it kinda like the Quest for the Holy Grail; you may get better, but perfection is just a bit further down the road. Which is why I really enjoy each new experience over the fire.
I'm looking forward to spending some time here to see what y'all can teach this old guy. I skimmed over some recipies, and give a respectful nod of the head to some good cooks.

Re: Greetings From Northern Michigan
Welcome to you John. Look forward to some posts from up there in Michigan. Sounds like you have a lot of experience and can pass on some good advice to some of us with less experience.

Welcome to the forum John. You will fit right in with the Dead of Winter cookers that are here. Not me, but they are here.

Re: Greetings From Northern Michigan
Hey JohnGerald, welcome. I summer north of you in Indian River on Mullett Lake. I'm relatively new to BBQ and have been on this board since last fall. Loads of nice people here and are all kinds of great information. I'm headed north Saturday so I'll wave as I pass through Gayloard.
