I was asked to make some pulled pork for a birthday party that is coming up in a few weeks and since I have never made it before, I am doing a trial run this weekend.

I got about 17lbs of pork butt. About how many pounds of cooked meat will that yield? How many people can i expect to feed from that amount of pork? What temp should they get to internally to know they are done in the smoker and can get pulled off?

I have never "catered" anything before so I have no idea. This is for family and friends so therefore it is not an official catering gig.

Thanks for any advice for a pulled pork first timer.

yep, assuming they are bone in.[/quote:dlz2peem]

Take the internal temp anywhere between 197*-203*.

17 lbs of bone in butt should feed 17 folks plust have a little leftover so they can take some home. You need to cook them now. Wrap or bag and freeze and defrost shortly before D Day. Just use the pit to heat it back up. Simple huh?
