Tri Tip and Onion Soup

Smoked some onions for some onion soup

Cooked the tri tip indirect till 105 deg indirect then cooked direct.

finished tri tip and made some garlic bread, half with shredded cheese and half with Provolone

I smoked the onions for about 20 minutes using some red oak. My wife and I thought they were great but my stepson who came over for dinner thought it was too smokey. I like criticism but he likes smoked foods but doesn't like the smell of smoke so I don't know what to think.
