Lots of leftovers from this weeks cooks in the fridge so tonight was supposed to be a "leftover night". It was freakin' 80+ degrees here in central VA today so I just had to get out by the grills tonight. I asked Campbell what she wanted to grill on the way home from daycare and she said, "I don't want to grill. I want pizza." Ha! I can do that. Used up some leftovers too... Win, win!

I was feeling lazy and didn't want to get out the stone so I decided to try the "direct on the grate" method. Pretty good!

Ingredients. Store bought dough, leftover Cornell chicken, some hot Italians from the freezer, some leftover sauce and some pizza cheese.

Since I wasn't using a stone and the cook would be very short, I cooked all the toppings before assembly. Italians grilling up and the diced Cornell warming.

Decided the Cornell didn't need to "cook" so I moved it on top of the kettle to just warm.

The neighbor kid came over and we decided to make a pizza party out of this cook for them. Let them roll their own dough...Campbell just out of her bath.

The girls dough on...maybe a minute on one side.

...Then flipped, topped with sauce and cheese and cooked indirect for another 5 minutes or so.

Turned out pretty good.

Mine was done with the same process but diced Cornell chicken and hot Italian sausage was added. Off.

All in all, really good. Doesn't hold a candle to the pizzas we've done on the stone but they were really good. Cheese not quite melted enough because of the short cook but they were good and it was a really fun cook.

Thanks for looking!

Thanks for sharing those pics, your helpers are adorable ! I use my pizza stones on the grill, the bottoms just got too blackened for my taste when I tried to do them directly on the grill. Your pizza looked great though....
