Taurus, if you let that thing pre heat up to 500 or so, you don't have to worry about germs.

Gunk, maybe.

Pre heat, hit it with the wire brush. You ain't gonna kill nobody.
 
Weber says to turn the grill on high and wait for 10 min...then shut the gass off and let the grill cool with the lid down...this could take a while.

After the grill cools off, get the grill brush and scrpae off the crusties! :!:

Works good for me this way!

What I do, if really want it clean is, lay tin foil on the grill, weigh down the foil with stones, fire up the grill and let her rip, once the grill stops smoking it's CLEAN :D
