Ok guys if any of you have been here before can you give me some recommendations on what to do, where to go, to eat etc?

We are here for 3 days- one day has been allocated to seeing HSM3 and the Aquarium but we have 2 days free

Go to the Coca Cola headquarters, get a tour and see the Coke museum. Its a lot of fun and your daughter will love it!

If you go to coke (try all the international drinks, you might find a new marinade), then you can walk to the underground mall.
Spend a day at the georgia aquarium.
Atlanta has a nice zoo on the north side.
The big green egg headquarters are on the east side.

The Broadway show Wicked is in town right now.

Georgia Aquarium is one of the biggest in the country.

I'd go to the Varsity for some chili dogs.

Go to Olympic village and the Killer Aquarium. As far as food.. Ask around for hole in the wall joints all over the place. Don't judge folks from the south by visiting Atlanta... They were mean to me and the wife... Texans are real nice and so are Cajuns if ya don't double cross em... ;)

Well we ended up not going anywhere today. Period. The Trailer hitch seized up and we could not get it off the truck. It was so bad that they had to use a big forklift to take it off . We spent the day waiting for parts. It was supposed to be just a short while but ended up being for many more hours. However our little one got to play in the pool and get some homework done. WE will hit the coca cola museum and Aquarium tomorrow.

Thank you for all the suggestions it is appreciated.

git r oua ur sitm so you can kick butt in douglas    p.s. the pie ladie from our contest will meet us in douglas have a great time team :D

Got this from a friend

Some of the best BBQ to be had is at http://www.fatmattsribshack.com/ <http>

My family ate there last summer and it was great. Go early afternoon if you don't want to wait. Nights feature live blues music and long lines but they do offer takeout. Don't be skeered when you pull up to the place, it's just got a lot of character like all good bbq places should.

One of the best non-bbq places to eat in the world is just a few blocks from GWCC--THE VARSITY is on the corner of Spring and North Ave.

One of my favorites is Gladys Knight and Ron Winan's Chicken and Waffles (http://www.gladysandron.com/ <http> )

Best hamburgers are at the Vortex at Little Five Points (http://www.thevortexbarandgrill.com/ <http> )

Bob, you just dropped about 5 notches on the respect meter here! I ate at Fat Matts with Buckeye from the Texas BBQ Rub forum one time and I would rate their ribs at about a 3!!!!! I don't even think they were smoked!! Plus, they did not take a credit card!!!! I know you are pretty learned Bob, so I guess I just caught them on a bad day! ;)

lol whoa nelly!!! I mentioned I got those places from a friend in Atlanta.. guess I shudda put a huge disclaimer on that posting that I had never been to any of those places, and cannot endorse said recommendations from an old friend  lol what does he know, he's from Kentucky!!!

HUGE DISCLAIMER I"VE NOT BEEN TO ANY OF THESES PLACES 8)

took this off the NBBN forum

Bub-Ba-Q is very good (we enjoyed our visit thoroughly)

There are a number of very good places for bbq which are much closer. Pig n-Chik has a Chamblee location (quite close to Doraville) and they are constantly receiving positive reviews locally. They will be hosting the July meeting of the Atlanta BBQ Club.

Also worth considering are:

Swallow at the Hollow on Green Street in Roswell

Slope's BBQ on Johnson Ferry Road in Sandy Springs

Sam & Dave's BBQ 1 on Lower Roswell Road in Marietta

KC Pit BBQ on Hildebrand in Sandy Springs

Daddy Dz on Memorial Drive near downtown Atlanta has received many positive reviews (but I haven't been there)

Rolling Bones on Edgewood in downtown Atlanta -

seems to be a bunch more on that link
