Restricter Plate Racing ~ NASCAR
Cars are flying at 1/4th mach speed on the Super Speedways. And this is with restricter plates trying to slow the cars down to the point that they don't fly when they get sideways / wreck. Is this the answer? I don't think so, but I don't have the answer either. What are your thoughts? (Hope I haven't unleashed the devil here )

Just a side note ~ It's pretty bad when a race winner has to look at the side of his car to see who the sponsors are he forgot to mention !! Way to go, Jeff Gordon!

My man Tony let me down. I thought the race was gonna finish under caution! I'll bet Tony had words with Jr. after Jr. said he would be coming low to help Tony, then decides to blow by him. Tony pushed him last year for the final burst that he needed to win, thought he would do the same.

yeah Nick I noticed that too. Still, a great finish with all the big boys up front and banging for the win. Very exciting.

Rusty gotta top ten, barely! Had a few close calls too! Overall a pretty good race! I too was disappointed Tony didn't win. He had a fantastic weekend, except the "Big One"!

I thought the restrictor plates were to slow the cars down because they were getting airborne when they spun out at 200+ mph. The roof flaps aided in changing the aerodynamics to help keep them on the ground when they spun too......

I don't know a thing about this NASCAR but I do kow that I hear the name Jeff Gordon a lot in regards to winning. Also, he seems to be an unpopular choice as far as the fans go...perhaps becuase he doesn't talk like a "hay-seed"...he wins a lot though.
Pitchers and catchers report in a few weeks!!!

My fault you are right the general purpose of the restrictor plate was to slow cars down but a major advantage to them is that they do force the cars to stay together.

That's true, but we're always waiting for "The Big One" which prompted me to start this thread. Thanks for the link.
