I was at a local stone shop looking for a round tabletop to make a pizza oven on. The guy who owns it showed me this monster in the back lot. It wound up being 6'x2' x2" thick with rebar inside the concrete. It already had the cutout for the sink and one facuet. It was something he had made to order but the client didn't want it so the best part was my price....free!
Must have weighed in at 300lbs easy. I am using some cinderblocks to see about the heights and all that and will make something a bit dressier later on.

Sweet deal!!!!!!!!!!!

The possibilities are endless with that. I think I'd set it in a base of nice fieldstone or river rock.....

Gives me great ideas though..never thought of pouring a counter out of concrete....hmmmmmmmm....

Hey guys, concrete countertops are a hot item! You can polish them up to look like granite and they have all the same characteristics as granite. If you don't want to polish them, you can acid stain them and put a epoxy sealer on them.

I've bought lots of stuff from these folks in the past few years.

Stains if you dont epoxy it . first generation cement countertops inevitabley stained.. the new stuff lasts a while..

As long as you seal it and keep it sealed it should keep a very attractive appearance. Besides sealing that shouldn't take but a few minutes, once a year.

It will stain just as easy as granite.
