KCBS and Gas Cookers

Understand in the BBQ world an offset cooker is pretty new, if you want to cook tradional bbq maybe we should use cookers that have been around for 3 to 5 thousand years, cookers like the BGE. You have picked a point in time and your saying it's ok to this point but anything from here on is wrong. Things will change as time goes on just like they have in the past.

What what what? cookers that have been around for 3-5000 years, and you say"like a BGE" Oh my word!
I have never read so much hoooey in my life.Let me see! they found a tiny mud and straw vessel in some shack in a chineese village 4500 years ago,that was used to cook soup or rice and it's turned into "just like a BGE" that's actually been made for 25 years if that,copied from a Kamado that's been made for almost 50,used with fuel invented 90 years ago :grin: :grin: :grin: :grin: :grin: :grin: :grin: :grin: :grin: :grin: :grin: The day a BGE outcooks an offset is the day i come back here James and tell you all about it! Actually an offset can be used with wood for fuel like they did back millions of years ago.

. I'd just hate to see a propane bomb...and all it takes is once and you(not you personally) and KCBS are going to have one hell of a liability problem. Anyone check into how much additional site insurance will be with propane burning pits IN USE?

KCBS is a officating body not an organizer, it will be up to the organizers to insure the event and deal with the fire dept.

Oh and my opinion on letting in propane users or cookers with Guru's,
why not?If it's a safety issue then have the gassers seperated in their own area and let em at it.There was a contest that someone was upset about,that some competition cooker won for the 4th year in a row,seems he won 3 of the contests using a gas grill,which at the times the contest wasn't sanctioned by the KCBS,so 4 weeks ago i believe it was, he won it for a 4th time,which was sanctioned,supposedly he was given the stink eye by some of having an unfair advantage by cooking with propane secretly,,which by the way,i don't think makes sense.
And the guru,well i don't think it makes a big difference,just waiting for the day when everyone sends a robot out to these contests and stays home and sleeps.

I thought the BGE's/Kamado's were indeed based on oriental cookers that have been around for thousands of years. Of course pre-burned wood
has been available since the first fire.
