I make a macaroni salad here too, but it is totally different from what I would call pasta salad. Macaroni salad is made with mayo; pasta with Italian dressing.

Pasta salad if it has salad dressing. If it has mayo well it takes that name like potato salad or macaroni salad or egg salad...

So if you make a Bow Tie Pasta salad with mayo it becomes Bow Tie Salad? Why not just say Pasta salad.

Macaroni Salad: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Macaroni_salad

Pasta Salad: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pasta_salad

Noodle Salad: http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?tit ... odle+salad

Noodle: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Noodle

Right, bow tie salad if you add mayo, add italian dressing and it's pasta salad....who the heck puts mayo with pasta anyway? :D

Ok, how about this one,

do you say po-tay-toe or po-ta-toe?

From Bill's link:
Pasta Salad - It is made up of cooked pasta pieces (usually either shell pasta, elbow shaped pasta or Penne) covered in mayonaise and accompanied by carrots, capsicum (bell peppers), and sometimes celery. It is similar is style to the American Macaroni salad.

Finney my good man, you have missed the point of this post. I am not arguing the fact that there is Pasta salad or macaroni salad. When I make my Italian dressing Pasta salad I use spegettie noodles, cheese, ham, black olives, peas, onion, green pepper, onion and anything else that may go with it. I also make pasta salad using mayo. I have NEVER heard it called "NOODLE SALAD" as it was discribed to me this morning. THAT was the point of this post.

I was told that Pasta salad is made with Italian dressings and Noodle Salad is made with Mayo

There's 3 pages of people not getting his point. Your posts don't make it seem like you were "on board" either.
