Disposable Grates

If anyone ever invents disposable grates I will be first in line to purchase some.

I have a cook tomorrow night. All my grates are dirty. I am out of gas. Weed burner takes to long.

I can't resist the urge to just buy another one for 12.49 at Lowes.

Anyone have an easy way to clean up a grate ?

Seems like I have asked this before. It must be a big problem for me.

I stick them in a big plastic tub with household grease cutter for a day or two. Cut the grease cleaner 50/50 with water.

perhaps you have already hit on the solution. have a spare grate so that you can always have one cleaned off for just such an occasion.

$12.95 per grate? A guy like you could afford to throw them out every 5 uses or so! I say this having never met you - but I have a feeling about these things. Ship the disposed of grates to me in Iowa. You could easily afford that as well

Here's the best way we've found to keep your grates clean. While they are still hot, take your wire grill brush and dip it in ice water, then scrub the grates. This miraculously loosens all the cooked on debris. Then dip a wrag in the water and wipe it down. Do all this with the grates still on the grill.

I was a cook for years at a local steak house. we always cleaned the grates with a wad of foil. grates need to be hot and you should use a big ol' wad of foil to avoid burning. This has always been my method.
