I'm not challenging anyone on this forum. Only myself. I've battled with weight issues for years. I've lost 70 lbs a few years ago and gained 80 back. Really no surprises as I went back to my old ways after the diet was over.

I've tried Atkins earlier this year and had some initial weight loss but found the diet too restrictive and have read too many articles about how it can be unhealthy to do for any length of time. Last week I decided to try something different so I signed up for Nutrisystem. My food arrived last week. It's all about portion control and eating a balanced diet. On this diet I've lost 8 lbs since Tuesday. I know a lot of it is water related and that this weight loss will slow to probably around 2-3 lbs/week after I settle into it. I do feel a lot better. To keep myself motivated I plan to check into this site monthly and post my results and photos (the hard part). If anyone is interested in joining me, let me know and I can email you a coupon for $30 off your first months purchase of food. So far the results have been great and I haven't been hungry. On this diet I eat 5 times a day and drink a minimum of eight glasses of water. Fruits and vegetables are a significant part of this diet. Food choices are pretty good too, hamburgers, pizza, chili, beef stroganoff, chicken alfredo, meet loaf. It's not as good as the real thing of course but if keeps you from craving certain foods. I had blueberry pancakes for breakfast this morning. Desserts are good tool

And now for the ugly part, the before photo's!

Week 1: Beginning weight 300 Goal 175 Weight 3/4/07 292 :D

I'll post photos once a month to track progress. Committing to do this publicly will help me accomplish this goal. Thanks for your support guys!

Best wishes on the wieght loss plan. Wow, I are you trying to drop 125#?

I wish you the best!

Just last week, I embarked on my own weight loss venture. I am trying to force myself to eat more healthy and actually eat during the day. My biggest problem is eating one meal at night and that's just not the best way. I have gained some weight over the winter due to being stuck indoors so much. I have a hard time breathing the cold air (end up using an inhaler) so don't do many activities outdoors. This leads to a sedentary life if you aren't careful. I have started exercising each morning, doing a variety of workouts for upper body, lower body, and the torso area. I also do some cardio by marching and jogging in place. When spring comes, I'll be doing a lot of bike riding but until then must make do indoors. I know for myself, that I won't stay on a special diet for a long period of time and that means I will gain the weight back so I choose instead to build muscle and modify the amounts I eat and the way I cook.

Yes 125 is the goal although I'm not focusing on that number. Right now I'm just trying to focus on weekly mini-goals. Next goal is to break 290.
175 is where I should be at based on height weight charts but it will take a year or so to get to that weight. Lots of obsticles in the way. Vacation at the end of this month and then barbecue season, so we'll see but so far so good.

Allie, thank you for your thoughts. Best wishes to you on your plan as well. It sounds like a good one!

Good luck in yer quest!
Lifestyle changes are usually too drastic. My diet is simple 2 step program...
1 eat less
2 move more
This way you can still enjoy yourself and with any luck there will be less of you to enjoy! ;)

Hey that is quite brave of you. Well done.

You can do it for sure.

I started before Christmas and am down 28 so far. Not easy certainly with all the amazing food porn around here but small steps = big success.

Also there is a great website I use to track my progress:
www.calorie-count.com it is completely 100% free.

All the best to you.

Well I am trying to lose weight too. I have switched over to Bud Lite instead of regular Bud. That should help. I expect to be only a shadow of my former self before too long.

Thanks for the encouragement everyone! Today marks 1 week on the diet! I've also given up coffee too. I do two miles on the treadmill every morning. It's working. Weighed in today and I'm down to 290, a ten lb loss for the first week. Things will probably slow down from here but I'm shooting for 3-4 lbs for next week.

Tonight I'm eating a burger with lettuce, tomato, onions, and a few pickles. The burgers dehydrated but does have grill marks on it.

I'll post pics tonight! :D

Congrats!

No loss yet here but since I'm doing a lot of strength training, I don't expect to see it that much except in inches.

Keep it up!!

Well it sure is nice to see that I'm not in this alone. Thanks for the encouragement ladies, and congratulations on all that you've accomplished also. Down another lb this morning. 289 and falling! 11 lbs now in 8 days!
