starter bbq pit

Heck, I think I started about 22 years ago on a kettle type.
It kinda mushroomed from there. Got serious about making pits
in 1984. Kinda went overboard then, & been cooking & welding ever since.

I think I have 16 now. A 14ft beer bottle smoker, a full chuckwagon,
1906 baby carriage smoker, phone booth pit, steer roaster, 3 hog roasters, 5 backyard smokers, 4 grills, etc etc
Also Bling Bling, which is my newest creation. She's a beauty.
I think I will keep this one for a while. Sure is fun to cook on.
Here's a link to the pictures of it. Just scroll down. cut & paste to see it.

I gotta say, BBQ'n outside is a real passion for everyone here.
Gives ya something to do with your hands while the football game is on,
& the drinks are cooling. See ya in the Great Outdoors.
Maybe we can hang at some of the cookoffs coming up.
Should be a ton of fun. Dave Klose

types of pits

Oh Yeah. one Weber, one bullet smoker, a State of Texas Smoker.
Those were the backyard catagory. I tried to stay practiced on diff.
pits for travelling. You never know how much you can pack for a certain area of the USA.

Besides, I collect em. Some people collect cars, motorcycles, etc
I like grills & smokers. A fun hobby/work.....

Re: How many pits did you own???

[quote="THE EASY"]How many pits have you own before you got the one that you enjoy the most?

How many differant brands did you own?

1 Kenmore gas grill, 1- 55 gallon drum smoker/side firebox, 1- turkey fryer.

What was the BIGGEST disappoint you ever had?
Running out of gas during a cookout on Sunday.

What was the BIGGEST mourment of enjoy that you had?
Seeing my smoker go over 300 degrees after chimney was installed.

How did you get started Big or Small?
Small

If you knew what you know today what would you do differant?
Save my money and buy a proper pit.

How many years did it take you to enter compotion or BBQ for groups?
Got invloved for a few years with the Carolina Swiners , it was a father-son type set up , actually competed in Memphis oin May a few times. That ended some of the folks got the BIG head and told a few of us they didnt need us any more. Good news IM BACK wtach out for Captain Morgan and the Misfits!!!!
