A guy I know wants a smoked ham. Question. Would that be a raw ham or one of those hams you buy at a grocery store and put in your oven or in this case just smoke it? IF not, how do you do one?

Bill you can smoked a "ham" (uncured) and make pulled or chopped pork, or you can smoke a "ham" (cured) and have smoked sliced ham. Ask the guy what exactly he want's. Explain the differences to him.

Bill if that guy want's a "cured" smoked ham...it's going to take a loooooooooong time to both cure and smoke.....you are looking at curing it for about a week....and then smoking it for at least 24hrs....at temps well below BBQ temps...the last ham I smoked was a 20lb ham and it took 36hrs.....
