Well, my first foray into the Qers world in West Virginia has faced a setback. I ordered tri-tip from a local meat cutter "oh yeah, I know what that is!" and ended up with the bottom sirlion! It came out all right but it wasn't tri-tip.

Tri Tip comes from the bottom sirloin butt, so you may have indeed had tri tip, but they could have been labled differently. Did you by chance take any pictures of what you got?

Also, Tri-Tips tend to do better on the grill then the smoker. Sprinkle one with your favorite rub or just salt and pepper then toss it on the grill, so good and so easy.
