Merry early Christmas RB.. That is really nice. Make a video please on the maiden voyage!! :D

OK fellows, here is a pic of the guts before I completely gunk it up practicing. Right now I got it coming up to temp for a good metal cure like a black iron pot, all sprayed down with oil. Mrs. RB feels a lot better now that we don't have to wrestle the Stumps into the camper. It only weighs 110lbs and will hold as much as my Stumps!

I didn't know ups would ship something like that.

Did it come fully assembled ?

Yep. Took two of them to get it to my door(wimps.)

I'm holding 325 now letting it cure and have had no problems controlling the temp.

It is SWEET!

All cured up and time to put it to the test. Had no problem nailing 250 and just happened to have a pork butt in the fridge all doctored up so here goes. Put it in there and am going to bed. If all goes well it should be done by 0600 right about the time my alarm goes off.

Ron congrats on the new smoker!! I just got a backwoods tailgator a few weeks ago and I have only had one cook on it but so far I love it.

Good luck with it
Chris

Well it's been a long damm day. Got up at 0440 to a Chubby that had dropped to 200F. Whoops, this thing uses more fuel than my others....... Rescued it with more fuel and got it going again. Went back inside after it lined back out one eyed sleepy. No temp probes no electronics, nothing. At 0630 I figured it would be done so I ambled back out there and it was 375!!! Crap, ran out of water. But it was done so it didn't matter.

It got hammered at lunch today after sitting in the Cambro for 40(OK 4 hours, but it seemed like 40 waiting on lunch) hours. I thought one guy was going to kill himself eatin it.

Still learning this cooker, obviously. But two things come to mind.
1. water in the pan melts away some seasoning so coat it better
2. Make sure you start with a full load of fuel to get a 10 hour burn.

I'm gonna try sand like others do this weekend and see where things line out. I'm expecting the vents adjustments to be a LOT different than with water. I will have more time so it shouldn't be a problem to figure this baby out.
