Well. I finally Put my new cookbook to use. There are many great recipes in the book, but I decided to make a soup for my Mother-in-law that resides in a nursing home not too far from our house. This definately is different than anything I have ever eaten, but it really is good... Enjoy the pics and the video, also thanks for making a good BBQ forum, GREAT!!!!

Looks great SS I'll bet that would be fine on a chilly evening
It was good on a low humidity evening. I'm going to try a bowl chilled now... Yum!!! :D

Here is the recipe in copy and paste form. Thanks SS.

Cajun Sweet Potato Soup or Stew

8 medium sweet potatoes
1 cup chopped onion
1 cup chopped bell pepper
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 tsp yellow curry powder
salt and pepper, to taste or Slap Ya Mama Creole Seasoning
3 T peanut oil
1 - 64 oz can chicken broth
4 chili peppers chopped
1 - 14 oz can diced tomatoes
1 can light coconut milk
1 cup chunky peanut butter
1 lb medium shrimp
1 lb crabmeat

Peel and dice sweet potatoes, set aside. In a large stock pot, saute onion, bell pepper, garlic, curry powder, salt and pepper in oil until wilted. Add sweet potatoes and cover with broth about 1/2 inch over sweet potatoes. Add chili peppers and tomato, boil 15 to 20 minutes. Add milk, peanut butter and shrimp. Cook 5 minutes. Add crabmeat and simmer 5 minutes.

Well I just got back from the nursing home and the soup was a hit. They loved it. I think I am going to make them a different soup every weekend... :D Make me happy to see the elderly smile.
