I know there are more than several people in this forum that eat slaw. Personally I love it and make many many different types and sometimes a couple 4 times a week. Below is my Mom's slaw recipe.
Slaw Dressing
1 egg
2 Tablespoons Sugar
2 Tablespoons Cider Vinegar
1 Tablespoon Water
Couple shakes of salt
1/2 cup Mayonaise
Place egg, sugar, cider vinegar, water and salt in a sauce pan and stir/whisk constantly over medium heat. It will take on a creamy consistancy. Remove and let cool and stir in 1/2 cup Mayonaise.
The Slaw:
Slaw is never the same with me. I have tried many different ingredients but below is a favorite. I cut the cabbage in really thin slices and them into tiny pieces. Grating it is just as good.
1/4 head purple cabbage
1/4 head green cabbage
1/4 cup golden raisins
1/4 cup slivered almonds - Toasted is excellent but not necessary
1 Tablespoon Chopped onion
Chop or grate cabbage, toss in all other ingredients and toss with slaw dressing.
Enjoy!
