I'm gonna throw 2 butts on in a couple of hours.

This is a final practice before Smoke on the Beach next weekend.
Testing slightly modified injection and a new balance in the rub.

Hope to put on as late as possible, cause I'm working tomorrow
from 6 to 10....but bedtime around comes when it wants to, not when
I want it to.

Anyway, hope someone is staying up with me tonight. Going to get
some Jack to accompany me.

I'm also doing a couple of butts on the WSM overnight. I'll bet I stay up later than you Cap'n. You have a four hour headstart.

found an alternative I'm picking up tomorrow that I think will work,
otherwise, I've bought everything except the marm to make my own.
Went to Indigo Farms in NC today....got about 8 pounds of vegetables, lol.

Griff, I hate to ask this, but what is the overnight low there?


It was hi 70's today, will clear and get into the 50's tonight.
I'm just in one of those moods to be up as long as I can with
smoke rolling into the night....this is why I bbq.

no nap, just slept late, and don't have to get up till
6:30 tomorrow. I probably won't make 10, but I'll be happy

They're pretty much trying to end both bike rallies.

Cap'n, my overnight low is forecast to be 25* -- with scattered snow showers. It's currently 42*. This is really an ugly time of the year here with the snow melting and mud. Plus, this year the melting snow has turned extra ugly on account of the volcanic ash. It makes the snow real dirty looking.

I think I'm going to use the tail end of my Wolfe rub and I don't inject. I'll sauce it with Scott's. This is basically one of those "no more pulled pork in the freezer" cooks.

I take it this is your final tune up for the spring SOTB?

No lights tonight -- it's overcast. the local newspaper has an aurora forecast everyday and no lights tonight even if it was clear. We are at the bottom of the 11 year sunspot cycle and the norhtern lights have been mostly absent as a result.

some butts, and I'm .7 miles from the Atlantic and you're in
Alaska.
