The smell of fruitwood

I am burning off a round of lump to give my barrel a bit of a cleaning and I decided to throw a couple of chunks of mayhaw in so I could take a wiff and see what to expect.

It is still a little green as I could hear moisture sizzling as it burned but the general smell is " TANGY".

Is that how most berry producing fruit woods smell ?

Beats me? But whatever you do don't throw off some cedar branches in there unless you got mosquitos!

Yeah, but it takes a long time, swatting them one at a time with a cedar branch.

There are 10 of them and they are over a 100 years old. So next time mosquitos get bad I will cut a branch and let the wife fan me. Sounds good to me. Here is pic of the trees.
