The beans are similar to a pinto, but heartier I think, full of flavor.

I used onion, bell pepper, garlic, salt, pepper, touch of chili powder and a tiny touch of cumin, I think that's all I put in it.....

I would say 'firmer' than pintos......not harder! Like I stated originally, they're heartier and stand up to a long cook better than pintos. In otherwords they don't get overly soft and mushy after cooking all day. So I think I know what you meant John, I just don't want people to think if they get pinquintos they're gonna be eating a bowl of marbles.
