Pecan Boards

Had a friend that had a pecan tree sawed up into boards and told me I could have all of the pieces that had the bark edges on them. The boards are 1" x 8" and there is about two pickup loads of it. Has anyone ever used boards like this before. I would think they would burn fast. I committed to pick them up and get them out of his shed. Watcha think.

I think it will make a difference if you are cooking on a stick burner or an upright.

I am sure the boards will burn fastser than logs if you are burning it exclusively BUT at least it ain't costing you anything.

If you are just using it for smoke then two loads will be a lifetime supply.

Go for it.

There is a church that does a Pig Pickin twice a year and they use hickory slabs. They burn them down to coals then shovel them under the grates.

Your pecan slabs should be fine to use for BBQ.

Here are more pictures of their Pig Pickin.

Smoke up some Andouille sausage with it!
