Mustard Question

Do you think a mustard slather on a butt would keep the smoke ring from developing?

I say no. Did 4 butts a while back 2 with and 2 with out. After that, I don't do the mustard thing any more.

No, I don't think it would do anything to impact the smoke ring. Just helps the rub adhere to the butts a little better.

I use mustard all the time on butts and ribs. The smoke ring develops fine.

NO, it does not prevent a smoke ring on butts, brisket, chuck or ribs.

smoke has nothing to do with a smoke ring, so the mustard
won't hurt it at all.

Smoke FLAVOR in the meat? different question, but it hasn't hurt
people who use it.

I never paid much mind to smoke rings on butts but dont see how mustard could hurt it..know it don't interfere with it on briskets. Whut will interfere with smoke ring formation is funky marinates.
