i am using pecan shells for smoking fuel and some of the shells i had from last year has some mold on em. would it be ok to use them?

Think of it this way.......if you had a bucket full of pure mold.... would you cook your food with just that?

I wouldn't

So why introduce even a small amount of it into your food?
 
Well I used some moldy ones here while back and tasted just fine to me. Now these wasnt plumb moldy..just sorta.
