I bought a frozen duck....

Ok I was at Walmart and they have a frozen duckling in the frozen food aisle. It was pretty cheap so I picked it up. I am thinking about smoking beer can chicken style. Has anyone tried that before? What kind of wood is good with duck? Any other tips?

I'd use a drip pan....ducks got looots of fat. Could get a grease fire.

I have cooked a duck on my beer can rack. Although I cooked it a bit long, duck is so fat it is forgiving. Mostly made the skin too dark. I put concentrated orange, lemon juice and come clove in the can and rubbed it with fresh orange zest in olive oil.

Hope this helps.

Apple wood is awesome for slow smoking a duck!

Although, after deep frying the last few we've had
It's hard to reccomend any other way.
