Yeppers....hard ball of tin foil is also rumored to work. Now I aint neva tried non of this stuff of course cuz I dont buy many electrical cooking gadgets which utilize such acroutements. I use the Missippi method to figger out pit temps. Involves laying the palm of the hand on the pit and counting by Missippis till you get a real sudden urge to move your hand.
1 Missippi or less that is a good time to grill steaks.
2 is time for chicken.
3 for loins
4 for brisket, butts or ribs
5 time to add some fuel or make jerky.

Knew folks from Sunny CA drink near as much wine as the Frog Eating Frenchies so bound to be a few corks laying around. Most likely If a person got plenty of wine they dont notice the missing tates. Know it works thataway with whiskey anyway.
