Delux h20 Smoker

I had a Charbroil Deluxe H2 0 electric smoker given to me. I would appreciate any pointers that I might be able to use with this unit. I did ribs two weeks ago and they turned out well. I had a problem getting the heat into the ideal range. My next cook will be a pork butt.
Thanks

Trouble with electric smokers is that most folk run them on a wimpy extension cord. If you use a 12 or 10 gauge cord no longer than 25 feet that should help with your heat problem. This has helped friends in the past with the same problem your experiencing.

I've never used that smoker, how do you adjust the heat? Are there
vents you can adjust, or is there a dial on the electric thingy you can adjust?

The unit I had in Orlando was a plug it and forget it. Maybe I should have tried the wimpy cord 'cause I could never keep my temps low enough.. #-o Left it at the curb when we moved!

can you add or remove water to a pan or something to help control the heat?
