Has anyone bought or used the Kyocera ceramic knives?

They say they're harder than any steel and will hold a sharper edge longer. :)

My wife uses a paring knife. She says it's sharp and likes it. However, it's expensive ($30), is brittle and will break if dropped on a hard surface and has to be sent to the mfg to be re-sharpened. Also must be stored in a safe manor.
That's why she has one and I don't.

the ones i saw on you tube shows the knife being dropped and it doesnt break. You can type into you tube "how its made ceramic knives" and it will pop up. It pretty interesting.....anyone else have any experience with them?

They can break if dropped and if you use them trimming around bones they can be chipped. Many have tried to use them for BBQ and most I know go away from them quickly.
