Captain Morgan Meal

Several years ago one of the BBQC Founding Fathers schooled me on what those on the southern side of the Mason Dixon line eat for New Year's to bring good luck. When I asked him why he was eating black eyed peas for New Year's his exact words were "Your Yankee Is Showing Young Man" he then introduced me to Hoppin' John and Collard Greens with a side of cornbread. I don't know if it really brings a Yankee good luck, but it has to be one of my top 5 meals. Thanks "Cappy" wherever you are.

Well I guess this all depends on what time of the day you discussed this with the Captain.
Made and enjoyed the same grub at work today.
Happy New Year Buzz!

At first glance I thought this thread was about drinking your dinner!

The Hoppin John seemed to make folks extra gassy this year. Does that seem normal?
